Explore52 - 34-37

I have 4 weeks of #explore52's for you today and they show a small change from late summer into early autumn.

First of all we have this little gem of old advertising on the side of a city centre building, it could quite easily be missed if you weren't looking but I happen to think it's rather lovely.

Secondly is this corner of the Abbey which is a little bit hidden. The gothic curves and windows look particularly lovely here in the late summer sun.

Next is the Parade Gardens that are in the heart of the city, with beautiful statues, views of the city and a bandstand and deck chairs it is easy to see why locals and tourists like to lunch here in the sunshine.

Lastly there are a couple of snaps of the fabulous folk who descend upon Bath each September for the annual Jane Austen Festival. I love to see them parading around our Georgian city in their finery, heading for the Guild Hall or Pump Rooms in the footsteps of Ms. Austen herself.

Explore52 - 33/13

What's been happening the past few weeks with me? Honestly couldn't tell you, my days seem to disappear and suddenly it's the end of the week!! I did get a chance to have a quick stop at a fave cafe of mine on Friday though. Jacob's is a rare thing, it is homely and comfortable but busy and central at the same time. Frequented by locals and tourists alike and situated right at the heart if the city, looking over the Abbey and Roman Baths it is surprisingly affordable and full of tasty treats.

Explore52 - 32/13

I have another one of my favourite spots to have tea as my #explore52 for you today. My local garden centre has a lovely tea room looking out over the Somerset countryside, the village of Englishcombe can be seen nestling in the hills and there is a tranquility about the place that is good for the soul.

Explore52 31/13

My #explore52 this week is a view of the canal running through Bath from a bridge that runs from Widcombe across to the train station. This is a fairly quiet spot and the people who use it are usually rushing to catch a train or just cutting through, but it's actually a lovely spot to just stop a while and watch the barges travelling by.

Explore52 30/13

A couple of weeks ago I got to spend the day with Boris, one of my favourite little girls. Obviously not her real name - that would be cruel - it's just my affectionate nickname for her, some of you Brits may see where it comes from by her hair?!
Anyway we spent the day eating ice cream and basically running around like loons, particularly when we visited Beazers Maze by the weir in Bath. It is often missed as an attraction, but this little mosaic maze is a great place to run around and be a kid for a while.

Explore52 29/13

As this heatwave continues for a little longer the only thing I want to do is drink iced drinks or eat ice cream in the sun, so my explore52 this week is one of the green spaces in Bath City centre. Queen's Square is a small 'park' in the heart of the city where you will find many an office worker lounging on their lunch break on sunny days, it is surrounded on all sides by Bath's famous Georgian architecture making it a delightful place to sit and unwind.

Where do you like to hang out at lunchtime?

Explore52 28/13

Hey peeps, hope you are getting plenty of sun, it is still shining here in Bath - yay!
I went for a stroll today and whilst walking stopped to admire the writing that can be found in the paving. I thought I would share this as my explore52 this week as sometimes you really need to take time to stop and see the details that you usually miss in your busy lives.

Explore52 27/13

Oh Lordy I have been so busy in last few days I completely forgot to post my explore52 on Friday, sorry peeps! So here it is and it is another little cheat I'm afraid as I am posting not about Bath, but Bristol, which is a short 10 minute train ride from my city.

I have recently taken stock to be sold in the pop up shop Paper.Scissors.Stone in Bristol city centre, whilst there I was able to send some time with some pals chilling at the harbour side and looking out for the painted Gromits that are dotted around the city for the summer.

There were also some roses dotted along the waterside for people to take. The label attached to each rose instructed us to take them to a local gallery (the Arnolfini) and exchange it for a gift, so we did and received these little paper boats by an artist. They have messages inside but I've not read mine yet.

Anyhoo, I hope you are all having a super weekend xx

Explore52 26/13

Quick post today as I am at a wedding, but it'd be rude not to make one of the venues my explore52, the Roman Baths in Bath. Happy Friday lovelies xx

Explore52 25/13

This week my explore52 (if you've not read them before this is where I Instagram areas of my city and encourage you to do the same, tagging with #explore52) is my favourite city centre place to sit and watch the world go by. I perch myself against the Abbey wall with a coffee and relax whilst listening to the many Bath buskers that frequent the Abbey courtyard.

Hope you've had a great week peeps and have a happy weekend xx

Explore52 24/13

Don't you just love those small independent businesses that are tucked away in little corners of your town, this one in Bath is situated at edge of the Pulteney Bridge above the steps that descend down to the weir and riverside walk (see there's a sign!). Found describe themselves as a concept store and sell a mix of fashion, home ware and stationery of the highest and quirkiest design.

I like the layout of this place and the staff are really friendly too, and that's why it goes on my explore52 list. Check out their website here to see their great range of products.

This post is not sponsored, they are just admired.

Explore52 23/13

The sun has disappeared again and the rain has rolled in, so to hide away from it I snooked away in one of the Bath Bakery cafe's that are dotted around the city. So my explore52 this week brings you the smell of fresh baked bread and warming coffee. Have a happy weekend peeps xx

Explore52 20/13

Yesterday was a meet day for me, I had a great day chatting to some lovely people who own independent businesses in Bath. I am so excited that people are liking my designs, it is really encouraging and I feel positive about getting my jewellery seen by more people this summer. Whilst in town I paid a visit to one of my pals who works in Cafe Luca, a bright airy cafe inside The Loft home-ware and fashion store. Situated at the top of town surrounded by all the Georgian architecture you can't help but feel good whilst sipping a well made coffee (I'm not a big coffee drinker, but occasionally it is called for). The tables are even adorned with fresh flowers which are sold in the store, so pretty.

Oh, and if you haven't noticed I am also now obsessed with the new app by A Beautiful Mess, it's one I was actually happy to pay for!

Have a great weekend friends xx

Explore52 19/13

Hi friends, sorry I am a day out with my first post of the week but yesterday was a non computer day for me. I spent a wonderful day celebrating the May Day Bank Holiday at a traditional village fete in Newton St Loe which is just on the edge of Bath and 10 mins from where I live. The sun shone, the beer, tea and cake were plentiful and there were Morris dancers and a folk band to entertain everyone, plus clay pigeon shooting, a coconut shy, a dog show and market stalls lining the streets (of which I was one). A totally British day steeped in pagan tradition of celebrating love and fertility and the bringing of summer. Here are a few instasnaps that are my #explore52 for the week.

Explore52 18/13

Is it Friday already? Really? And the May Bank Holiday weekend? Whoopie!!

Well here is my explore52 for you this week, it's my Instagram of a hidden little gem of a place. I don't get the the cinema as much as I'd like anymore but when I do go I like to try and see movies in this old picture house, tucked away in a backstreet of Bath city centre. Back in the day The Little was known as the flea pit but now it is has had a new lease of life. With only 2 small screens it is somewhat intimate but there is a nostalgia about the building that just works. They have a licensed bar and hot drinks available and of course snacks, but not the kind that need a seat all of their own as well as making you feel like you've been mugged like in the multiplex!
They show a good mix of films too, current box office hits, art house, world and old movies alike, this is probably why it's popular with the grey brigade which I kind of love.

Do you have a favourite haunt for movie night?

Oh yeah, I may be a little scatty and late on Monday as I will be peddling my wares at the Newton St Loe country market for the May Day holiday, fingers crossed for sunshine, cider and Morris Dancers!

Explore52 17/13

Happy Friday people, and what a morning. The sun is shining and I'm feeling, well I'm feeling rubbish actually as I've got a killer sore throat. However, mustn't let these things get in the way of the good stuff!
My explore52 (Instagram 52 project exploring my city) is the view from Engliscombe Lane on the south bank of the valley looking out to the west of Bath. In the distance you can see The Cotswolds and in the the foreground is the Moorlands, which now has a school built on it, but, was the grounds where Anne Sewel was inspired to write the novel Black Beauty.

Please feel free to join in with my project sweets xx

Explore52 16/13

Well thank goodness it's Friday! I'm posting a picture of the beautiful Theatre Royal in Bath for my explore52 project this week as this evening I will be going to watch Midnight Tango, and as a Strictly fan - who is not ashamed of it I might add - I am very excited to see Vincent and Flavia do their thing! Have a good weekend my beauties xx

Explore52 - 15/13

Sshhh, don't tell anyone, but I am kinda cheating a little with my 52 project this week. So naughty I know.
My weekly instagram project is to explore my home city of Bath and its surrounding area, but this week I have travelled a little further afield (an hours train ride). As the sun decided to shine my best girl and I took her babies to the coast (I say coast, but I mean Weston-Super-Mud, I mean Mare) to build sandcastles, albeit we were still wrapped in coats and gloves! It was the best kind of day with typical behaviour befitting our Britishness... fish & chips, lashings of tea and spending all our 2p pieces to win a naff toy on the pier. Brilliant!

Little dreamy on the train ride home.

I hope the sun has shone on you this week and continues to do so xx
