New Year, Old Traditions

Happy New Year! For the first day in weeks the rain has ceased and the sun is shining so I am taking that as a good omen for 2013. Let it be a bright year for everyone.
New Years Eve was spent with family and friends and we revived an old tradition to see out the old and bring in the new. Our family always dressed someone as Old Father Time to see off the old year and a child  dressed as the New Year Fairy to bring in the new, they would appear at midnight to start the obligatory party poppers and singing of Auld Lang Syne, and now the new generation of little ones have joined in.
Frighteningly in the old photo's at the age of 3 I appear to look exactly the same as I do now with my fringe cut back in!

How did you celebrate and what traditions do you follow? xx

Faith, Trust & Pixie Dust!

So the last night I decorated my little tree, and I think you'll find it to be one of the kitschest trees you ever did see! Whilst out shopping for presents for little ones I ventured into the Disney store and came out with a Tinkerbell doll (nothing unusual there you say?)... it was for myself! Couldn't help it, I remembered I needed a tree fairy and what better one to have sitting there on the top my tree than Tink, the naughtiest fairy there ever was. I think she goes perfectly with my toadstools, typewriter key snowflake and vintage decs.

How is your tree shaping up? What's your favourite decoration?

Birds, Butterfies & Baubles

I have been making some little stocking fillers this week using some oven bake clay and ink stamps. Have a go at making some holiday ornaments yourself, just grab some clay and impress your favourite images in to it with permanent ink. Make a hole using a straw, bake according to the instructions and hang with pretty ribbon or twine... Or if you are able, come along to the Bath Artisan Market this Sunday where I will have some of these brooches for you to purchase.

What decorations have you been making this week? xx
