Excited!!!!

It is now just two days until my stint at the Bath Christmas Market, I can't wait to see you there: Dec 4th-9th from 10 am on Bath Street (by bhs). 

I am also very excited to show you some new pieces that I have made for the occasion...

This bunny/hare is an image I designed for some Christmas cards last year, the card was very popular so I decided to try it in silver and fell in love with it.

Market Style

I am both excited and terrified at having my own chalet at Bath Christmas Market for the first time this year, it's a pretty big deal! 

Mother A. has been helping keep me calm and put a lot of love into making me this most snazzy market trader apron to wear. She must have faith that I'm going to do well as the cash pocket is pretty spacious :D 

Explore52 - 34-37

I have 4 weeks of #explore52's for you today and they show a small change from late summer into early autumn. 

First of all we have this little gem of old advertising on the side of a city centre building, it could quite easily be missed if you weren't looking but I happen to think it's rather lovely. 

Secondly is this corner of the Abbey which is a little bit hidden. The gothic curves and windows look particularly lovely here in the late summer sun. 

Next is the Parade Gardens that are in the heart of the city, with beautiful statues, views of the city and a bandstand and deck chairs it is easy to see why locals and tourists like to lunch here in the sunshine. 

Lastly there are a couple of snaps of the fabulous folk who descend upon Bath each September for the annual Jane Austen Festival. I love to see them parading around our Georgian city in their finery, heading for the Guild Hall or Pump Rooms in the footsteps of Ms. Austen herself. 

Explore52 - 33/13

What's been happening the past few weeks with me? Honestly couldn't tell you, my days seem to disappear and suddenly it's the end of the week!! I did get a chance to have a quick stop at a fave cafe of mine on Friday though. Jacob's is a rare thing, it is homely and comfortable but busy and central at the same time. Frequented by locals and tourists alike and situated right at the heart if the city, looking over the Abbey and Roman Baths it is surprisingly affordable and full of tasty treats.

I have another one of my favourite spots to have tea as my #explore52 for you today. My local garden centre has a lovely tea room looking out over the Somerset countryside, the village of Englishcombe can be seen nestling in the hills and there is a tranquility about the place that is good for the soul.

My #explore52 this week is a view of the canal running through Bath from a bridge that runs from Widcombe across to the train station. This is a fairly quiet spot and the people who use it are usually rushing to catch a train or just cutting through, but it's actually a lovely spot to just stop a while and watch the barges travelling by.

As this heatwave continues for a little longer the only thing I want to do is drink iced drinks or eat ice cream in the sun, so my explore52 this week is one of the green spaces in Bath City centre. Queen's Square is a small 'park' in the heart of the city where you will find many an office worker lounging on their lunch break on sunny days, it is surrounded on all sides by Bath's famous Georgian architecture making it a delightful place to sit and unwind.

A Theatrical Treat

Well, what a day Friday was! The most memorable wedding I have been to, elegant and fun all rolled into one. The bride and groom are huge musical theatre fans so there was lots of singing and quirky little surprises to keep the guests amused, such as the happy couple walking dancing back down the aisle to "Step in Time" from Mary Poppins. During the speeches about a quarter of the guests did a surprise flash mob style rendition of "Sunrise, Sunset" (the wedding song from 'Fiddler on the Roof') as this was the show that the couple were working on when they met, very moving. We were also able to soak up the splendour of some of Baths glamorous spots, with the ceremony taking place at Bath Assembly Rooms (made famous by Jane Austen), drinks at the Roman Baths and a wedding breakfast and masked ball at the grand Guildhall.

This week my explore52 (if you've not read them before this is where I Instagram areas of my city and encourage you to do the same, tagging with #explore52) is my favourite city centre place to sit and watch the world go by. I perch myself against the Abbey wall with a coffee and relax whilst listening to the many Bath buskers that frequent the Abbey courtyard.

A Celebration or Two

Happy Monday to all you good people out there, I hope you had a wonderful weekend no matter where you were. I think I said last week that my birthday was last weekend and that celebrations were postponed until the 15th as people were away the Saturday before, and boy was it worth the wait as my beautiful bunch of girlfriends treated to me a lovely evening at a pop-up restaurant in Bath.

I started todays post with one of my favourite pictures of me and my pops as on Sunday of course it was Fathers Day and we had a family pub lunch to celebrate... don't you just love the 80's digital watch and sideburns?

So here are some pics courtesy of Ms. Workers of Saturday night fun at Hall & Woodhouse and Sam's Kitchen pop-up restaurant, where we dined on roasted plaice with samphire, lamb casserole, rhubarb and ginger fool and peach and basil compote, delicious. The menu was all locally sourced and put together by the chef on the day. We also had entertainment in the form of a singer/songwriter at the piano, unfortunately I can't remember her name but she was very good!

The sun has disappeared again and the rain has rolled in, so to hide away from it I snooked away in one of the Bath Bakery cafe's that are dotted around the city. So my explore52 this week brings you the smell of fresh baked bread and warming coffee. Have a happy weekend peeps xx

Explore52 22/13

If you get a sunny day in England there is nothing nicer than messing about by the water, whether it be play at the seaside or picnics on the river, it doesn't really matter, we island dwellers get drawn there. My explore52 this week is the Kennet and Avon canal where I found myself kicking back the other day. Bees buzzing, ducks gilding by, barge people mooring up and the clink of glasses in the distant pub garden... a little bit of heaven!

My explore52 this week is not a place but an event that takes place in Bath each year. Today is the start of the annual two week International Bath Music Festival and it all kicks off with a free party in the city tonight. There will all genres of music being performed throughout the city and as per usual people will be dancing in the streets not worrying about the horrendous weather! Some friends and I will be heading to Milsom Place where there should be drinks flowing and a real party atmosphere. Have a fun weekend peeps and as Brucie would say "keep dancing".
